Origins55 level cap

The game uses the 10 original skillsets.

Later retailAncestral progression

Later versions added more skillsets and systems.

This article also explains Origins client changes and the current development rules.

ArcheAge Origins uses the older r208022 client with a separate server and launcher. It does not follow the final retail version’s full feature set.

If you return from a later version of retail, read this page before you follow an old equipment or class guide. A guide can use systems that this version does not contain.

Origins is pre-release. The facts below describe tracked settings and released client changes. They do not promise a final launch economy or complete support for every game system.

Levels and classes

Topic Origins What this means for you
Character level The cap is 55. Plan around level 55 rather than later Ancestral progression.
Skillsets The game uses the 10 original skillsets. Use builds that match those skillsets.
Class choice A class combines 3 skillsets. You can change skillsets as your plan changes.
Level-55 skills Each original skillset has its level-55 skill enabled. The skillset must reach its required level.
Skill points Level 55 gives 28 total points. Your build must fit that shared point limit.

Later retail added Ancestral progression and more skillsets. Origins does not use those later skillsets as part of its original 10.

Read Classes and skills for the skillsets in this version.

Changes you can see in the client

The launcher installs these changes with the managed client updates:

Change Where you use it
Borderless Windowed Fullscreen Select it beside the current Windowed and Exclusive Fullscreen modes.
Camera controls Set camera distance and field of view in the game settings.
Regrade outcome rates Read Success, Destruction, and Degrade percentages in the Regrade Item window.
Point-shop buttons Open Honor Point and Vocation Badge shops from Character Info.
Quest map signs Selected quest signs return on the map and minimap after login.
English achievement text Read the reviewed English summaries and descriptions.
Shorter route to the server list The client keeps the poem splash and skips the later login cinema.

The maximum camera distance is 35. The field-of-view range is 40 to 120.

The regrade window shows the effective outcome rates for the selected item and conditions. Read those rates before you confirm an upgrade that can destroy or degrade equipment.

The point shops use their named currencies. An Honor Point balance and a Vocation Badge balance are separate from ordinary money.

Rules to know during play

The current server work restores and checks several rules that affect normal play:

  • Mail expires after 14 days. Read status does not extend its expiry.
  • Eligible expired player mail returns its contents to the sender once.
  • Expired mail that cannot return leaves the active mailbox. Claim useful contents before expiry.
  • Peace protection covers hostile attacks and harmful effects, with native duel and retaliation exceptions.
  • A failed main quest can restart only when that quest permits it.
  • Housing placement checks the permitted area and construction rules before it spends the required items and money.

Read these rules before a mail claim, a quest restart, or a journey through a conflict region.

What the current rates mean

The tracked server settings use 1× multipliers for experience, Honor, Vocation, loot, and resource growth. These values do not multiply the authored rewards.

A multiplier alone does not define the full economy. Individual quests, item tables, labor, and recipes also affect progression.

These are development settings. Do not treat them as a final announcement for launch rates, subscriptions, or shop policy.

Use guides for the right version

Before you follow a retail guide, check its skillsets, level range, and item names. A guide for Ancestral skills or a later skillset does not describe this build.

Use the tooltip in your client for the exact item, skill, and recipe requirements. Ask for help if the tooltip and the game result differ.

For the current client changes, read What is new. Use Your first session if you need a fresh route through the early game.
